Assassin's Creed Introduces Surprising AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that defies usual predictions, Ubisoft has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Revealed
According to the formal release, "A mysterious confrontation leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where whispers of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous transformations reverberate through the darkness." The plot features a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a secret sect.
The questline concentrates on "bizarre trials and a monstrous enemy" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses
The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview concludes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the hostage, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Bonus Content
Players who finish the adventure will receive an exclusive katana together with numerous items hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps steed
Newest Free Story Addition
This release also introduces the game's third no-cost story episode, titled "The Mystery." This playful mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Past Japanese Animation Collaborations
This marks scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime franchises. The series formerly featured a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally contained a quest that clearly nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
